How do Pie’s affiliate cookies fire, and when is an affiliate tag observed?
Pie respects existing affiliate links from creators and publishers to ensure they keep their commissions. Here’s how it works:
If Pie detects an existing affiliate link:
Pie temporarily disables (“stands down”) its own Cash Back and affiliate functionality for that specific merchant for one week. This ensures the original creator or publisher receives the credit and commission for your purchase.
If no existing affiliate link is detected:
When you activate a Pie offer (like applying coupons or earning Cash Back) on a partner store, Pie activates its own affiliate tag. In these cases, 100% of the affiliate commission earned goes directly to you—the Pie user. Pie does not take any portion of these commissions.
This approach helps creators retain their earnings while still allowing Pie users to benefit fully when no prior affiliate relationship exists.
